Spring Eggs and Time Away
Natasha and I colored eggs this year and it was such fun. We tried brown eggs, then white eggs, some with rubber bands around them, some not, and Natasha even watercolor painted some. I blew them out afterwards so we could hang them up, and those that aren't on display, we started some flower seeds in. With soil, of course! It's very "earthy" you know...to plant seeds in an eggshell...no waste, good for the soil, decomposeable, yadda-yadda-yadda... Not to mention, cute, which I hope to show you in a future post. :)
Today has been the first time I've been on a computer in 3 whole days. Maybe that's not a huge deal to you, but generally, I'm on the computer every day (multiple times a day!) except most Sundays. I'm kind of re-evaluating my computer time and where my priorities need to be.
After being away, I've come back and realized I haven't missed much! I'm not abandoning it completely or forever, because I do enjoy blogging, corresponding with friends and family in other states, and so many blog posts from various bloggers have been such a blessing to me. But when idly browsing Pinterest and vaguely scrolling in Facebook tend to take over my day and make me dissatisfied and unhappy with my life somehow, (whether it's because I don't photograph my 2 year old monthly on the day she was born or I feel less loved because my husband didn't bring me any surprise roses this week) then something needs to change.
I still haven't figured out what that change exactly means, but I'm thinking less is more. I do know that my 3 day vacation from the internet and the computer was very good and I got a lot more things done away from the screen, in real life. I didn't have this guilty feeling of, "Boy, I didn't get much DONE today..." hanging over my head and...it was kind of fun, seeing how long I could go without opening the laptop!
I've been contemplating my time-waste too... how much I've been tossing out the window. *poof*
ReplyDeleteAlas, I obviously haven't made as good a use of my self-control as you have yours, but I HAVE been using the computer for a better purpose! Namely, brushing up on my Mandarin! - Keep up the good work! (And if you don't respond, I'll know you have... ;) jk! lol)
