When Your Daughter Turns Eleven
When your daughter buys a plant...she needs a room with a window.
*****************
Many months ago, Natasha started reading about houseplants. She gathered all the library books pertaining to indoor gardening and she purchased her first Rubber Plant. We swapped rooms with Lincoln and soon she had her own space, but it was rather...blue. So for her 11th birthday, we updated her room and gave it some feminine details. There's still more to do for sure-lighting, drapes, bedding, artwork, but it will all come in due time. For now, here are the particulars so far:
Clare paint was super easy to order from online. Natasha discovered this company in one of the many interior decorating magazines she's been reading. They have lovely colors to select from, easy stick-on samples and all you need comes in a big yellow box. We did prime the walls and I was very impressed with their zero VOC paint. Also the fact that I changed my roller nap to 3/8" woven. No more fuzzies stuck in the paint on the walls!
The velvet chair was found as a deal on Facebook Marketplace. Folks, if you're looking for furniture or, just about anything, do check FB Marketplace before buying new. Buying secondhand not only makes your find more unique, but it often has a better price as well.
Not everything is to be found on Marketplace however. Sometimes you just have to click the "add to cart" button when you fall in love with a rug. This was the case back in April for this amazing Rifle Paper Co. rug. She selected it all by herself and I must say, she has good taste, aye? It's the perfect mix of floral, moody navy color with plenty of color to brighten up the space.
